The issue in my book was that Brian didn't communicate with anybody that was around him. By the end of the book he was able to reconstruct his relationship with Jessie and talk to his mother about Michelle's death. The ending was very realistic because it was just Brian and his mother reading the letter Michelle left Brian and the note he wrote to his mother.

I really enjoyed this novel because it made me think about how some people cant handle some situations and different ways people handle things. This could be relatable to teenagers' lives in certain situations because Brian and his sister were both teenagers and there are some people in the world that go through a death and dont handle it well or have other things happen to them and they handle them by cutting, getting into drugs/alcohol or completely cutting off all communication with everybody in their lives.

Throughout the whole book Bryan goes through the loss of his sister Michelle. His whole family was devistated and depressed because of the death but I think that Bryan was taking it the worst. He was the most closest to his sister. Michelle protected Bryan from his father and taught him a lot. One of the things that Michelle taught him was to make the perfect cut. Once Michelle died he started cutting himself even more because he thought that his parents blamed him for his sisters accident and they loved her more then they loved him. One night Bryan couldn't take anymore of his fathers criticism and his mother being protective of him so he went up to his room and attempted to kill himself.

After he woke up in the hospital he had to go to therapy everyday. His father went away on a sabatical because him and Bryan's mother weren't getting along anymore. The first couple weeks after he woke up, he didn't want to have any outside contact with the people he knew except for Dr.Spahic but after awhile he finally decided to let his mother visit. When he had acouple visits with his mother he was free to go home. He continued to have his weekly visits with Dr.Spahic and he slowly began to get better. He was almost back to his normal, healthy self then he finally made the move to be completely happy. He took apart the back of his sister's old quitar and read the note that she had left him. After reading the note, he wrote one himself, but to his mother. This note was explaining what exactly happened the night of his sister's death. He gave his mother both of the notes and they sat together in the kitchen, crying and beginning to get their relationship back.

I think that this outcome was positive because even though it took Bryan going to the hospital for attempt to suicide and his father leaving, he was able to reconnect with his mother and get his life back on track.

Do you think that Bryan's father was the source of all of his problems or do you think that he thought up the problems on his own?Why do you think this?

The main character in my book is Bryan Bianchi. Bryan is a very smart kid in grade 12, but he doesn't attend school very often. He doesn't think very highly of himself and he doesn't really do anything to help himself with anything. He acts like everything he does doesn't matter and nobody cares about him so he shouldn't care about himself either. Bryan has many weakness's. He cuts his stomach to make him feel alive, and burns his arms with cigarettes. He has random bottles of vodka all over his room that he drinks on a regular basis, he smokes cigarettes and he does drugs. He doesn't interact with other people very often because he thinks that everybody hates him. His father treats him very bad because he blames him for his sister Michelles death.

Do you think that Bryan is just hurting himself because he is looking for attention or does he really have a problem and should go get help?

In the beginning I was afraid that this book would be very graphic and only talk about all of the different problems that the main character has, but as I read the book, it was very different then what I expected.

This novel is about a boy named Bryan that lost his sister about a year ago. His sister, Michelle, had a lot of problems with her and Bryan knew of all of them. She taught him the perfect way to cut himself and after she died he started doing it because it made him feel like he was alive. Bryan's mom is very torn up about Michelle's death and because of it, she drinks her pain away. His dad thinks that its time for everybody to just forget about what happened and move on. Bryan cut himself off from a normal life. He broke up with his girlfriend, Jessie, stoped talking to all of his friends, and tried to have as limited contact with his parents and teachers as possible. As the book goes on, more and more things happen to Bryan and because of it I am very interested in the book. I can't wait to find out what happens to Bryan next.

If you knew someone close to you was having problems or hurting themselves, would you just leave it alone and pretend you dont know anything or tell somebody about it before it was too late?
